First Things First: Picking Out the Perfect Band for Your Wedding Party

One of the most important decisions when it comes to hosting a memorable wedding is also one of the most frequently overlooked. For many who take on this great responsibility, arranging for appropriate music is little more than an afterthought. In practice, though, the selection of the perfect band for a wedding reception is probably the best way of all of making the event a success.

Of all the many details that need to be nailed down before a wedding can be pulled off, the band will be the focus of attention for by far the longest time. Wedding ceremonies themselves last only a few minutes, even if guests are often left to fidget in their chairs for a while longer. While important and often touching, the speeches that are given at wedding celebrations thereafter rarely account for much more in the way of time.

The band that is chosen to play at a wedding party, on the other hand, will be entertaining guests, the newlyweds, and their families for several hours or more. Although most bands will take a break or two over the course of the night, it is not uncommon for them to be on stage for as many as four hours, all told, with many playing forty or more songs during that time.

Given the centrality of a band to the whole experience, then, picking out the best one possible should obviously be a high priority. In some few cases, as when the bride and groom are close friends with a local band that focuses on original music, it may make sense to book an act that is known for playing songs of its own creation. In most cases, though, it will be a much better idea to secure a covers band that not only has a wider range of musical reach, but is also comfortable with entertaining wedding parties.

The Monroes from New Zealand, for example, have been playing at weddings for nearly 20 years, making music at over 200 celebrations during that time. As a highly accomplished covers band, they are able to play songs from any era of popular music, whether that means reproducing the classics of crooners like Frank Sinatra or belting out one of Katy Perry's latest hits. As visitors to their site at The Monores live band can see, this results in wedding parties that they play being fun, memorable events for all who attend, making the jobs of the planners who book them easy.
